The Lighthouse

This is a cross stitch I made as a gift for my father. He was born and grew up in a house that is very close to the see. The only thing between the yard and the water is a two-lane road. The oil painting you can see on the right was made by my mother, Claudine. I could not take a picture of this cross stitch without this painting. They pair so well.

I followed patterns from my favorite cross stitching magazine, Le Idee de Susanna. Each subject (lighthouse, seagull, sailboat, house) comes from different pages or issues. I always enjoy looking at patterns and mixing them.

For me, sail boats and seagulls over the sea reminds me of my summer vacations when I was very young. And when I look at this cross stitch, I wish I was walking on a beach in Gaspésie (east coast of province of Québec, Canada), collecting sea shells and small rocks.

  2. I love lighthouses. Although I no longer can see them as I live in the land locked Southwestern USA. LOL!!! I loved driving along the Oregon Coast and seeing the lighthouses there when I lived in WA state.
