This is my second Tea in the Rose Garden mug rug. All in peach, purple and white. Like my yellow rose and blue tea cup version, this one is also in French: Le thé dans la roseraie. The third one I am working on features the English sentence and is in red, purple and white. I will post about it next week.
I really enjoy making these small quilts. And the recycled fabric I am working with (t-shirts, pyjamas, etc.) are so soft to the touch because they went through many washing. A bit stretchy, which can be bothersome in a way, but they do not fray, which compensate. Before stitching the edges of an appliqué, I pin it to the background with many pins, on curves most of all. They keep the appliqué right where I want it and prevent any stretching of the fabric while I am sewing. The background is a thick cotton (from pants) that do not stretch at all. I would not put stretchy fabric on another stretchy fabric. That would be less manageable.
I hope you are enjoying seeing my Tea in the Rose Garden mug rugs because, as I wrote above, I will have an other one to show you next week. I received so many wonderful comments about the yellow rose and blue tea cup mug rug. Thank you!
