A Fairy in the Rudbeckia Garden

A Fairy in the Rudbeckia Garden - francenadeau.com

There is a fairy in the rudbeckia garden. She has sparkling hair and sparkling clothes. Of course, everything she touches sparkles afterward.

I worked on this embroidery piece over the course of a few years and just finished it. The felt appliqués were stitched unto corduroy fabric (retrieved from old pants). I chose to take the pictures in full sun as it enhances beautifully the metallic thread and the embroidery floss. The sun also increases the dimensional effect created by the ribs of the corduroy fabric.

Downtown Houses – Block 6 with a pattern

Downtown Houses block 6 - pattern at francenadeau.com

This house is high in colors. The door and the window frames were carefully decorated. The number of windowpanes add even more richness to the deep red frames. Each window has its elegant flower box. The roof, with its sandy-beige color, contrast beautifully the busy design of the front wall. The minimalist front garden was planned as to not distract the eyes from this magnificence.

Downtown Houses – Block 5 with a pattern

Downtown Houses - Block 5 - pattern available at francenadeau.com

This is the fifth house in my series of Downtown Houses. This one has a rustic look. It is a few centuries old and must have been there when downtown was a mere cluster surrounded by cultivated grounds.

Pattern for Lavender Embroidery

Embroidery pattern for lavender - francenadeau.com

Lavender. What a heavenly smelling plant. You brush the leaves with your hand and its fragrance fills the air. I created the above motif years ago. I first used it to make embroidered cards and bookmarks that I was selling. Then, I started to use it on fabric. Here are a few examples:

My Lavender Sachets tutorial being one of the most popular of my free patterns on Crafsty, I thought that you may like to have the pattern for this embroidery. I had it on paper but had no trouble to draw it on computer. You can find a pdf version of this pattern on my web site. This is a bilingual pattern, written in English and in French. Please let me know if you use the pattern… I would love to hear about it and maybe see a picture! 🙂
