To make these Messenger Bags, I used a tutorial provided by sew4home. The tutorial is called Slim Mustang Messenger Bag with Tuck Locks. I have omitted the tuck locks. I cut into three old jean pants to be able to use their thick fabrics: pale beige (almost white, perfect with a pale outfit), dark beige (almost brown, perfect for fall) and black (absolutely essential all year round). The inside is made from old cotton pants.
I have made two Cylindrical Pouches recently, both gifts for my son’s birthdays. I made them with one of my sons’ old pants (beige corduroy), pieces of wool (scraps from skirts I made a long time ago) and two zippers ripped off my spouse’s old pants.
They were sewn with my sewing machine and by hands. The hand sewing was reserved for the zippers and the finishing touches. I like that hand sewing can become almost invisible and I particularly appreciate this quality around a zipper.
I took many pictures when making my Cylindrical Pouches and subsequently created a photo tutorial that includes the patterns for cutting the pieces (in actual sizes) as well as a list of the required material (all in French and in English). You can find this pdf tutorial here, on my web site. I hope it is of some use to you. Please, let me know if you make some Cylindrical Pouches. I would love to hear from you.
