Heart in Stripes – Third blue and white heart

Heart in Stripes - francenadeau.comHeart in Stripes - francenadeau.comHeart in Stripes - francenadeau.com

Heart in Stripes in shades of blue and white. This third heart has the same background as the first and the second (new and recycled fabric I used for the the mug rugs with a white foundation). The various textures of the fabrics are on full display here.

I have added a layer of cotton batting inside the heart to be able to use it as a mug rug. It was hand quilted with a variegated King Tut cotton thread. I also played with a piece of ribbon to make a flower (it is supposed to be a rose, just to say).

A photo tutorial for making Heart in Stripes should be available tomorrow on my web site.

I also made a few mug rugs in flowery red and green. I somehow forgot to take pictures and only have this one (the mug rugs are no longer in my possession):

As I mentioned in my my post Mug Rugs Made with New and Recycled Fabrics – white foundation, these mug rugs were sewn with the quilt-as-you-go technique. The bindings were made with the backing, sewn by hand on the front.

I have made 28 mugs rugs in total and do not plan of making any more for some time. 😉

These mug rugs were sewn with the quilt-as-you-go technique. A first for me, but not a last. I just love how easy and fast this method is. The bindings were made with the backing, sewn by hand on the front.
