Last fall, I made seven quilts with old pants (as Christmas gifts). I started with three quilts for boys, sewing 6″ squares and house appliqués (you can see them here). Then I continued my work to make two more, destined to my niece and my sister. Christmas was approaching rapidly and an increase of speed was in order. Therefore, I graduated to 9 1/2″ squares.
I sew bits of ribbons and lace on my niece’s quilt, giving it a shabby look that suits the pale flowers of the back fabric.
The quilting was simply done, with diagonal lines. Every squares that did not have the chance of having a piece of ribbon or lace were treated with machine embroidery.
A fleecy fabric was added on the back, for softness and warmth.
If I recall correctly, I used six woman’s pants for this project. Six old pants that were put to good use, in my opinion. Thank you for visiting,
