This is an afghan I have made as a Christmas gift for my mother. I started last August and finished just a few days before Christmas. It is made of 36 log cabin blocks. Crocheting it was a real pleasure. I started by making 36 centres and continued one color at a time for the 36 blocks.

I followed a pattern by Red Heart for the blocks, but did not follow the instructions when the time came to assemble the log cabins. I opted for a single crochet stitch in white. Then I made a border with five rows of single crochets, also in white. I used sock yarn and a 3.5 mm hook.

I was very pleased with my choice of colors and almost wished I could keep the afghan for myself. The possibilities that I crochet another one in the future are increasing, as my memory of all the ends I had to thread is fading…
