My heart is not as lovely as hers because I only had a bigger cotton thread than what she used. And I did not make the picots along the edge (they were not pretty with the big yarn). But I know that this heart is fun to make: easy and fast.
Heart in Stripes in shades of blue and white. The idea of making it came while I was sewing mug rugs last summer. This heart (and two more that will make their way here in the following days) was made with the same new and recycled fabric I used for the the mug rugs with a white foundation. I called this color scheme White House by the Beach.
To adorn this heart, I sew by hand some lovely cotton ribbon I bought, braided cotton blue threads, crocheted Eight-Petal Crochet Flowers (my tutorial for those flowers here) and stitched a row of chains (my tutorial for making the chain stitch here).
A photo tutorial for making Heart in Stripes will soon be ready and added to my web site.
